Hector Chavez
Hector is the Program Coordinator at Sacramento Newman. Raised in Northern California, he graduated from Chico State with a Bachelors in History and Spanish in 2020. He also spent time at its Newman Center serving as Treasurer and Vice President. He went on to receive a Masters Degree in Theological Studies with a focus in Second Century Christianity from the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University in May 2023. We also asked Hector three questions to learn a little more about him. Why did you go into college ministry? I chose college ministry because as a product of the Newman Center I'd love to give back, especially to my home diocese of Sacramento. I understand what the struggles of being a college student are from managing classes and work to making new friends. I believe that every student/young adult needs a place where they can do homework and form a community, but also a place where they can practice and grow in their faith with other like minded people. What are some of your favorite Hobbies? I actually love collecting really old bibles and flying kites whenever I see a little wind outside my window. What are some of your favorite movies? I honestly love nerdy sci-fi and comic books movies but I also love thriller/horror films. With that being said my favorite movies would have to be Terminator 2 Judgement Day, Rogue One, Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Thing (1982 version). |
