Director

Weston Ruiz
Weston is the Director of College Campus Ministry for the Diocese of Sacramento. He has a long history with the Diocese of Sacramento serving in youth ministry, music ministry, parish ministry and now college ministry. Weston grew up in Redding, CA and spent the past 2+ years as Director of the Newman Catholic Center in Chico. He is recently married  March 2020 to his wife Angela.  Weston is excited to be working alongside our dedicated college students here at the Sacramento Newman Center. When he isn’t working he likes to travel without an itinerary and play basketball with the students.

We asked Weston three unusual questions to find out a little more about what makes him tick.

What is your favorite way to waste time? Taking my motorcycle out on a long ride.
What is your silliest fear? The creepy plant life at the bottom of the lake that have possible zombie arms in them.
What smell do you love the most? Coffee, because nothing ever goes wrong when you’re drinking coffee.

Program Coordinator

Andrea 'Dre' Florez
Dre is the Program Coordinator of Sacramento Newman. She has done parish and campus ministry in both the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and her home Diocese of Sacramento. She has spent the last 2.5 years of ministry at the Chico Newman Center and is so excited for the new adventures Sac Newman will bring. When Dre isn’t working she likes to spend slow afternoons with friends and family.

We asked Dre three unusual questions to find out a little more about what makes her tick.

What’s the best thing to do on a cold winter day? Make a huge pot of coffee and binge a good Netflix series.
Where is the worst place you have lived? I lived on Oahu right after I graduated college and I hated it, I moved back as soon as I could.
What food do you crave most often? Coffee. Does that count as food if it’s the thing I consume most throughout the day? If it doesn’t count, then…sushi.
